UPDATE: Morning 6/15/12
Al was moved out of CCU last night!! He is now down the hall in medsurge in room 122.
No fever, still in isolation for MRSA so gowns and gloves are still required. He has been fever free for several days and all his vitals are excellent. He doesnt have to have oxygen any longer so his nose will start working and less dry! He is handling his own mouth swabs now dipping them in and out of of a cup of ice water for his mouth. Still not swallowing, as per doctors orders. Just a precation so there is no aspiration into his lungs.
He is talking up a storm today. Still very gaspy and hard to understand but nonetheless, his voice is stronger every day!! He is complaining about his butt hurting.....yes from sitting on it! Hopefully soon we can get him up and walking a little at a time. His doctor should be here anytime to check in and proceed with a little more information.
It is a glorious day in Astoria today. The sun is shining, slight breeze and pretty warm. Al's window is surrounded by beautiful foilage, so green. Just on the other side is the little courtyard we have been wanting to visit.
Rik is buzzing around the house this afternoon getting it all spruced up for Melissa's visit. Alvin is looking forward to her coming.
I will update again this afternoon.
Hope everyone has a great day!
