IT'S FRIDAY!!!!

Hope everyone is healthy and happy this Fabulous Friday!!

Alvin is still in isolation, so gowns and gloves are required....
Saturday is the last day Alvin will be on his antibiotics and should have his cultures retested this weekend or early next week.  If tests come back good, then the isolation will be over....WOOT! WOOT!  Say an extra little prayer for him......

When I arrived to Dad's room the morning, the PT was there.  She talked with me and Al for a few minutes, talked to Al for a few minutes about her plan to start to get him out of bed and into his chair.  Being mobile and breathing fresh outdoor air will be wonderful for him.

I had received a text from Jan before I arrived that said, "Dad can't wait for you to get there to massage his feet!"  This made me smile.  I told Al about what she had said to me and told him that I was never so excited to rub an old man's feet before....lololol.  So with new baby lotion in hand, I proceeded to rub his feet, ankles, calves and knees.  He just loves this!!  Today, he even sang to me!!  "I'm in Heaven, I'm in Heaven..."  Almost brought tears to my eyes and definitely made me blush a bit.  I also mentioned since there was another bed in his room, maybe Rik should sit there and let me rub her tootsies too.

Needless to say, Al was in a GREAT mood all day.  His catheter was removed last night and he said he actually slept very well, despite the woman down the hall crying for HELP!!  It is really kinda funny actually.  Sweet old gal, just wanting some attention.  Some of the other wheelchair bound gals yell at her during the day and tell her to just shush or go push her on down the hall.  She is not in NEED though, so that's why it is a little comical.

Jan bought Al a little personal DVD player that he can place on his table right in front of him.  I showed him all the buttons, very easy to use and had him push the play/pause button himself.  I am so proud of his achievements.  It is really a beautiful thing to be a part of.  He watched McClintock, starring John Wayne.  He is a fanatic when it comes to the Duke!  He told me he would probably fade off to sleep, and I told him right back that's why there is a stop button on the player.  LOL  The player also came with cables to attach to a TV and ear buds.  A really great find for him....NICE JAN!!

Lacy came to visit today too.  He just raves about her to all the staff here.  He says he is the luckiest man in the world to have such a wonderful family, not to mention the prettiest girls around.  He sure is a proud man.   Always has such positive things to say about all of his family.  Linda, he talks about you  alot.  He is one proud Father.  This whole family is so amazing, I am very proud to be a part of it.

I have been researching alot about his care once he is home.  I have found some great resources and websites.  If anyone has any suggestions, please leave a comment and let me know.  We are in the mode now at looking into building a ramp, fixing up the house to suit Al and Rik's needs, and trying to figure out their bathroom.  Definitely need to fix the tub situation. WOULD LOVE SOME SUGGESTIONS!!

I, personally, am looking into becoming a Certified Caregiver.  Suggestions here would be excellent also!!  OK friends and family.....let those suggestions flow!  I am a computer research nut, so paperwork, searching, reading, and learning are my forte!

Thank you all so much for all the support you give.  Prayers are being answered everyday and we are so thankful for each and every day.  Things are really looking up and very positive.

Hope everyone has a great weekend.

PS:  If you have any extra sunshine.....please send it here....
